Bobby Kelton grew up playing “his brand of music” in a musical family in Grants Pass, Oregon, where his father played guitar and fiddle, and was also a talented vocalist. His mother taught piano, which was Bobby’s first introduction to learning an instrument.
Bobby took up guitar at 11 years old, which started a long and fruitful musical journey.
With musical influences ranging from traditional country to blues, to modern rock and jazz, Bobby has found himself developing an eclectic mix of these styles as his own.
In 1985, Bobby began performing professionally, eventually touring the Western states with his band, “Windy River”. He relocated to the Portland, Oregon area and embraced a busy schedule of entertaining and performing at the Northwest local and regional venues and festivals, such as the Portland Rose Festival, The bite of Oregon, Milwaukie Daze, and The Gladstone Chataqua Festival.
Bobby’s range of music appeals to wide audiences and age groups. Windy River entertained at two pre-concert Jimmy Buffett shows and countless County fairs, including Multnomah, Clackamas, Washington, Skamania and Clark Counties, as well as private and corporate events.
As a solo artist, Bobby captures the attention of his audience, sharing personal stories relating to his original songs, and those of his favorite artists.
Recently, Bobby hosted two jam sessions in the Portland area, held the lead guitar spot in the Broken Cowboys Band, and is in demand as a guest artist alongside some of the region’s most respected and well-known artists. He also performs with his band, “The Bobby Kelton Band” in Portland and also in the Phoenix, AZ area.
Bobby teaches guitar workshops at studios in the Portland area, sharing his experiences and unique blend of country, blues and rock guitar.
